Armenian UN Association (AUNA) is announcing a Call for Applications for the 5th South Caucasus Model United Nations Conference. The Conference will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia from 6-12 September, 2010.

The Conference topic is the "Non-State Actors in Conflicts."

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the UN bodies during which participants represent delegates of different UN member countries and discuss issues of all mankind importance.

The Conference aims to provide all the participants with extensive knowledge on UN values, principles, and programs. Participants also get several skills: diplomatic, communication, negotiation, joint decision-making, lobbying, public speaking, elaborating and writing UN papers and resolutions.

More than hundred students from Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan have participated in the South Caucasus Model UN Conferences since 2006, discussing and suggesting their own solutions on different topics and issues actual in the UN agenda.

Preparatory trainings will be conducted in Yerevan prior to the Conference by the AUNA trainers.

During the Conference each country will be represented by two delegates who should be extensively well prepared after a few days trainings. We will also stress a good quality simulation allowing for resolution writing and cooperation in advance.

The Conference working language is English.

The criteria for acceptance of a delegate are as follows:

Age Requirements
All applicants must be at least 18 but not older than 25 years of age.

Completion of Application
Complete and submit the Application form.

Each applicant must complete an essay of no more than 300 words (see the Application form, Part III) on his/her motivation and purpose of taking part as a delegate in a Model United Nations.

Language Requirements
Applicants should be fluent in English, Russian is an asset.

Selection Criteria:
AUNA Selection Board will choose 10 participants from the RA regions and from Yerevan.

Applicants will be chosen by a 2-stage competition based on their essays (see the Application form, Part III) and will be interviewed as well.
